Karts & Parts is looking ahead to this October’s Champion Kart International Finals in Jesolo (near Venice), Italy and are thrilled to take part in the 2010 festivities. The Champion Kart Finals are made up of a 4 day race weekend consisting of 4 category classes on Parolins Champion Kart with IAME & TM engines. Identical karts & engines in each class to create a very competitive racing format with over 130 international drivers from all over the world.

This year’s Finals will take place from October 7-10th at the famous Jesolo circuit just minutes south of Venice. Karts & Parts will be assembling a team to make a Italian karting “Vacation” of it all. Fly into Venice, road trip the northern mountains of Italy, tour through the Parolin factory and win some races along the way – sounds like the perfect adventure!

Last year, Karts & Parts assembled a small team of 3 drivers to complete in this International race. Pearce Herder finished 9th & 10th in the Senior class, Dalton Kellet finished 11th & 18th and Mathew DiLeo scored a 14th position finish and a DNF due to contact. For all 3 drivers, it was their first appearance on European asphalt, and while competition was tough, all came away with smiles and some great international experience under their belts.

If you are interested in joining Karts & Parts to participate in this unique opportunity to experience beautiful Venice, Italy and gain valuable European racing experience, please contact Karts & Parts.

Determined from day one, Karts & Parts driver, Darryl Timmers brings home the first ever Honda GX Cup Championship at the Florida Winter Tour. Consistency has certainly paid off as Darryl scored 2 Pre-Final wins, a 3rd place and a very unlucky 2nd place finish. I know most competitors would only dream of results like that, but it looked to be Darryl’s race in the Sunday final as he patiently waited for his time to make the move for the lead, then there was some surprise lightening and the race had to be called short. Settling for second would be his only choice, but the championship would be his consolation prize.

Although it was not all the glory Darryl was hoping for as there was a chance to win a seat in the 2010 Granja Viana 500 kart race in Brazil. The catch: The seat was up for the driver that scored the most points in either the GX Masters or GX Senior Cup. Both classes had equal entries, although the level of competition may have made the made this unfair to the Senior class. The results were tight and the on-track fights could not have been any tougher! The Masters class had shown to be a easy sail to higher points and Darryl will sit as runner up to the Granja seat.

Other notable finishes were those of Fred Jordan (Gold Kart) in Sunday’s GX Masters as he stormed from 6th place to a incredible battled for the lead in the wet. Fred continues to show his dominance in the rain.

Pearce Herder (Gold Kart) also scored 3rd place on the podium in Sunday’s action in GX Senior and a 4th on Saturday’s Final. His teamwork to help Darryl was certainly recognized.

Christina Meloche (Gold Kart) of Moncton, NB was also up in the action all weekend, scoring a 5th place on Saturday, capturing the “unofficial” pole position on Sunday and then being caught up in second lap contact with another kart ended Christina’s promising race.

Jeffrey and Stephanie Kingsley competed in Saturday’s action. Jeffrey finished with a 4th place finish and showing enough speed to challenge the leaders. As for Stephanie, she gained some of the much needed experience to race at of this scale.

Just a few weeks away from the first ever Honda race at the Florida Winter Tour in Ocala. Series organizer, Bill Wright has just issued a memo to everyone regarding the race and some of the specific regulations that will be in affect.

Hello all,

Thank you for your interest in the 2010 Florida Winter Tour.

I wanted to make you aware of an exciting and affordable karting program I will be showcasing during the Ocala Formula Kart event-weekend. The FWT Honda GX Cup races will take place in Ocala on March 26-28.

Our Canadian friends are all very familiar with the Honda GX engine package, as they have been racing them for many years. The Honda GX classes are very often the biggest and most competitive classes at any club level Canadian race. The Brian Stewart Kart Racing Championship regularly see’s 200+ Honda GX entries at its Regional programs. All the top Canadian drivers race or have raced the classes.

Honda’s build quality and reliability are legendary. There will be several Honda GX engine suppliers / builders in Ocala to discuss costs and availability.

I am showcasing this class as an alternative for budget minded competitors. I believe it is a “missing link” in the current U.S. sprint karting environment, and I hope to make it a permanent part of the Florida Winter Tour karting programs.

CLASSES: Classes offered at the 2010 FWT Honda GX Cup are:

Junior. Ages 11-15. Honda GX160. 290lb.

Senior. Ages 15-35. Honda GX200. 340lb.

Masters. Ages 35 and up. Honda GX200. 360lb.

All classes will race the entire weekend on one set of MG FZ 4.5/6.5 tires. Rain tires are spec’d as the MG WZ 4.0/6.0

Chassis and Engine regulations will follow the Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship (BSRKC) www.bsrkc.com regulations. Enzo Chiovitti will head up Honda GX post tech.

The event format will consist of two complete race days on Saturday and Sunday. Each race day will consist of an eight minute warm up session, a ten minute qualifying session, a pre-final and a final. Competitors will score points in the pre-final and the final. The competitor in each class with the highest number of points at the end of the event weekend will be the FWT Honda GX Cup Class Champion.

AWARDS

Awards will include plaques for the top three of each class each race day and an FWT Honda Cup for the Points Champion of each class. MG Tires will also provide a seat on “Team FWT” at the 2010 Granja Viana 500 outside Sao Paulo, Brasil to the Cup Champion of either the Senior or Masters class. Which class receives the award will be determined by which class has the largest number of entries.

INFORMATION

For information about how you can get involved, contact me directly at info@formulakart.com .

I look forward to seeing all my friends and supporters in Ocala.

With 2010 ASN rules in effect, it will now be mandatory to run full width rear bumpers in all classes. The ruling states that all homologated chassis’ will have to run the manufacturers homologated bumper, although the 4 cycle classes do not use a homologated chassis. So we are developing a special bumper that is best suited for our 4 cycle Awesome chassis. We don’t want to just stick any ol’ bumper on your kart for competitive use.

So hang tight for our 2010 rear bumper. They will for sure be in our hands before the snow is off the ground
